Energy Sciences Inc and Mueller Martini Partner in Creating New Demo Site
Wilmington, MA, May 12, 2010 - Energy Sciences Inc (ESI), the world’s premier Electron Beam (EB) supplier and Germany-based MÜLLER MARTINI, the global printing press manufacturing company, announce their recent agreement to establish a new, state-of-the-art demonstration center in Maulburg,Germany.
The purpose of this European demonstration center will be to showcase the benefits of Müller’s new Variable Sleeve Offset Printing (VSOP) and ESI’s EZCure-CR, EB curing technology for the converting industry and in particular, the flexible food packaging converters.
“The EZCure-CR combines the reliability of a standard EZCure EB with the added benefit of a chilled roll integrated into the EB and the printing press,” states ESI’s General Manager, Edward Maguire. The EB design combined with Müeller’s new VSOP platform delivers high quality printing without any solvents—an attractive option in a global economy focused on sustainability.
Demonstrations to prospective customers will begin in the summer of 2010. Customers will see first hand a high quality printing process that requires no inter-station drying at speeds of up to 1200 ft/min. EB technology, used with the VSOP printing process, uses no VOC’s. This makes it environmentally friendly and eliminates the need for costly incineration or recovery systems. The robust technology generates a high gloss, high color efficiency and is ideally suited for current market trends in packaging: flexible packaging, labels, (shrink sleeve, IML, wrap-around, etc.).
In addition, prospective customers will witness the ability to print wet-on-wet inks on a substrate and have the EZCure EB system cure all of the inks instantaneously in one pass.
