THE WORLD LEADER FOR OVER 49 YEARS

Printers today are under constant pressure to maintain graphics quality while delivering year-over-year cost reductions. GelFlex-EB™ Ink can give you: cost reduction through ink savings, waste savings, and productivity gains, combined with better image quality and smaller dots. And all while decreasing emissions 90%.

WHAT MAKES GELFLEX EB THE NEXT REVOLUTION
IN FLEXIBLE PACKAGING?

  • Virtually solvent free

  • Superior physical properties and dot gain

  • NO heat required to dry inks

  • Cost less per square foot than solvent or water

TOP BENEFITS OF

GELFLEX-EB INK
VS. SOLVENT

ACHIEVE SUPERIOR PRINTING QUALITY
USING GELFLEX EB

  • Highest physical properties (scuff, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance) open up new surface print possibilities

  • Higher density EB inks result in thinner wet (and dry) laydowns resulting in brilliant colors, dazzling highlights and denser solid area

  • The strongest, thinnest film of ink (while maintaining color density), always prints best

  • Smaller dots, 180-220 lines per inch (LPI), and less dot gain (50% less than solvent), result in smooth vignettes and gradients – print to zero

  • Clean print results on both negative and positive text motives

DOSE & VOLTAGE

Dose and Voltage are specified to meet the needs of the application – they are separate, but related, parameters

Dose
More dose applied to a surface ink or coating will not penetrate deep into the film – it will cause higher cross-link density at the surface

Increase_Dose-01.png

Voltage
Using a higher voltage to deliver a constant dose will not increase the cross-link density – it will increase the depth at which curing occurs

GELFLEX-EB INKS

HOW IT WORKS

GelFlex_Ink_Banner-01.png

The high solids, gel-based EB inks are fluid enough for flexo printing, but thicken rapidly, providing effective ink trapping in the wet state. Only 1 EB dryer is required per press, eliminating ALL inter-station and end-of-press thermal dryers.

Printers can also EB laminate, extrusion laminate, or EB coat, all inline with the GelFlex-EB inks. And all cured with 1 EB dryer at the end of press. And Gelflex-EB Inks contain no photoinitiators and are safe for food.

NO THERMAL DRYERS. NO VOC CAPTURE OR DESCRUCTION

ELIMINATE THERMAL DRYERS WITH GELFLEX-EBINKS

HOW DO THEY CURE?

  • Unlike traditional inks, with GelflexEB a fully formed polymer is not required

  • GelflexEB technology includes microscopic chains of polymers that reduce the resistance to flow

  • Using virtually no solvents, this gel-based technology allows ink to adhere almost instantly to a substrate by way of a covalent bond, resulting in no color bleed

  • In its reaction with an electron beam, GelflexEB crystallizes and cross-links the polymer chains to create a contiguous and homogenous layer of  polymerized print

HOW DOES IT COMPARE

TO TRADITIONAL PRINT IN THE TOUCH POINT PHASES OF A PACKAGE?

  • Provides superior print protection from production to the store shelf

  • Creates package print that withstands shipping  and handling better than traditional solvent ink

  • Enables the printer and brand owner to consider strategies to reduce or eliminate laminations in favor of surface print

  • Whether its gloss or matte, can produce a  wide array of eye-catching print designs using multi-colored palettes as well as various tactile packaging surfaces

SURFACE PRINT =
COST SAVINGS

  • Lower cost films as print webs

  • Substrate simplification and  down gauging of film structures

  • Lamination replacement
